I don’t tend to do book interviews these days, as I’m busy trying to master (!) a new career as a school teacher. But when I got a request for an interview about Nyam Nyam from Greg Shanks who told me he wanted to ask about And To Hold – one of my favourite songs of ours, his copy shown above – how could I refuse?
Thanks Greg, I really enjoyed the interview. I don’t think back to those times that often, but when I did in response to your questions, it brought home for me how lucky I was to live through those times. They have their sad moments – especially the loss of Vaughan Oliver, who was crucial in getting us signed to Beggars Banquet – but the excitement, intensity and intimacy of the punk and post-punk era is just as staggering in retrospect as it seemed at the time.
